History

In 2021, Epicentre Church in Pasadena, California, sent their first international field staff to Yokohama, Japan. Masaki and Aimee Fukao began serving children and families in Kanazawa Ward, using their education backgrounds as a way to build relationships and share a powerful message: that each person is created with purpose, destined for hope, and deeply loved by a good God in heaven.

Through vibrant Kids Church programs, community events, orchestra classes, English conversation groups, and Bible camps designed to help children grow in their identity, a clear vision began to form. They dreamed of a school — a nurturing place where young hearts and minds would be equipped for courageous and compassionate leadership. A school where students would become fluent in English and be prepared to engage and lead across cultures with wisdom and integrity.

In 2025, the vision became a reality with the founding of Valor International School. Anchored in faith and shaped by a global perspective, Valor exists to raise up the next generation in Japan—leaders who know who they are, live with purpose, and inspire hope.

The inaugural class will begin in April 2026, marking the start of an exciting new chapter in education and transformation in Japan and beyond.
